Fleischkäse, also known as Leberkäse in some regions, is a traditional meatloaf-like dish that originates from Germany, Austria, and parts of Switzerland. Despite the name, which translates to “meat cheese” in English, Fleischkäse doesn’t contain any cheese but is rather a savory meat dish.

Serving Suggestions: Fleischkäse is usually sliced thick, fried and served as a hot sandwich filling, either plain or in a bread roll. It’s often accompanied by mustard or served with sauerkraut, potato salad, or fried eggs as part of a meal. When eaten cold, the thin slices are great for cold meat platters, sandwiches or salads.
